The Mentee Educational Foundation is pleased to announce that it will be hosting approximately 40 teachers and school administrators for a week-long Early Childhood Education teacher training workshop starting May 16, 2010 and ending on May 21, at the Kakata Rural Teachers Training Institute (K.R.T.T.I) campus in Kakata, Liberia. Stephanie Vickers, President of Friends of Liberia, a member of the Liberian Diaspora Advisory Board, former Liberian Peace Corps volunteer and an expert in The Liberian Education Assistance Project (LEAP) methodology will lead the workshop; she is a resident of Portland, Oregon, USA and will be traveling to Liberia exclusively for the workshop. LEAP is a child-centered, interactive approach to education that honors all children of Liberia through developmentally appropriate educational methods. LEAP methodology supports and uses Liberian curriculum and Liberian textbooks and incorporates the use of local teaching materials in the classroom. Attending the opening ceremony on Saturday, May 16th will include the following Liberian Government officials:
